Dr. Amit Malik has over two decades of experience of working in mental health globally as a Psychiatrist, senior clinical leader and startup entrepreneur.
He completed his undergraduate medical training in India and his postgraduate training and higher training in Psychiatry in Nottingham, UK. He also obtained his Membership of The Royal College of Psychiatrists and his Certificate of Completion of Training in Psychiatry in the UK. In addition to a Master’s in Business Administration from London Business School, he holds a Diploma in Geriatric Medicine from The Royal College of Physicians (London).
Amit has held numerous leadership roles - including Clinical Director and Associate Medical Director - and has been responsible for leading and managing the care of thousands of people with mental illness delivered by large mental healthcare teams. In addition to being the president of a UK and Europe-wide Psychiatric trainee organisation, Amit has also been a member of the Council of The Royal College of Psychiatrists, the European Board of Psychiatry and the standing committees of the European Psychiatric Association.
He has played a critical role in building out and managing large multi-location mental health services, leading national and international health policy initiatives, and driving technology-led innovation in his board-level roles in mental health organisations before moving back to India.
Amit strongly believes that technology must be leveraged to overcome all barriers to high quality mental health access, particularly in underserved countries like India. With that pioneering vision, he returned to India and founded InnerHour, a mental health platform offering tech-led digital & multi-professional services to help bridge the access and treatment gap for quality mental healthcare in India. Today, InnerHour has over 900,000+ downloads with users from over 100 Indian cities and is consistently ranked #1-2 globally on Play Store for self-help/self-care.
Amit is also an extensively published author. He has co-authored/co-edited 6 textbooks and has been routinely published in several international academic journals on a range of mental health topics. Additionally, he has previously been an editorial board member of two international journals - International Psychiatry and the International Journal of Social Psychiatry.
For over a decade, Neha Kirpal worked at the intersection of the creative and social sectors. Having founded India’s first international art fair, she ran it successfully for ten years before selling the business & moving her focus entirely to the marginalized sector of mental health. As a social entrepreneur, Neha brings tremendous experience in weaving impact networks with great passion and commitment to solve the mental healthcare gap, stemming from her own family’s struggles with mental health issues for over three decades.
In 2019, Neha joined Dr. Amit Malik as co-founder at InnerHour, a tech-led mental health platform that delivers integrated digital & offline services for a range of mental health conditions. InnerHour today has 900,000+ downloads, with users from 100 cities across India, and has consistently ranked #1-2 globally on the Play Store for self-help/self-care.
A global mental health ambassador, Neha is a member of the general body of Sangath, an International NGO specializing in mental health research, and is the India Advisor for City Mental Health Alliance (UK). Her mental health consulting venture Librum Ltd (UK) works with international NGOs, governments & institutions on systems solutions for global mental health.
An Aspen fellow (2018) and an Eisenhower fellow (2018), Neha was part of the World Economic Forum’s Young Global Leaders community (2015-2020). She received the NDTV Indian of the Year award (2018), Fortune Magazine’s 40 under 40 (2015) and the coveted Business Today’s India’s Most Powerful Women award for three consecutive years.
